ARIATHEA ROSE: BIO

A graduate of Toi Whakaari: The New Zealand Drama School, Ariathea began her career in Australian musical theatre for Ess Gee Entertainment and Cameron Mackintosh, and continued into cabaret, burlesque, soul, jazz, and recently original compositions.

Career highlights include performing the role of Madame Thenardier for Claude-Michel Schönberg (the composer) during the 10th Anniversary Australian Tour of Les Misérables; Jelly Bean, a play for three actors and Orchestra with the Auckland Philharmonic; creating the role of Boadicea for the one-woman rock-opera Boadicea; and a Royal Command performance for King Charles of Hairy McClary, as the singing narrator, during his Diamond Jubilee New Zealand tour 2012.

Songstress for The Royal New Zealand Navy Big Band and Great American Songbook specialists The Jazz Age, she has also held multiple-year jazz and soul residencies at venues across Auckland including Sky City Casino, curating bespoke entertainment across multiple genres.

Her work also includes multiple shows for Auckland Theatre Company, performances for NZ Opera, yearly performances for the Napier Art Deco Festival, and roles for South Pacific Pictures, Warner Brothers and Netflix in film and television.

Recordings include Salutations, jazz interpretations of soul and pop classics and Original Lullabies for Sarah, new sleepy time songs featuring the sounds of nature. Her journey to produce original music began with 2020’s Super Love, and continues with The 3rd Ear Project, currently in co-creation with some of New Zealand’s finest musicians and producers.
